The Hellenic Republic is the Country-Coordinator for the Working Group on SMEs for the term November 2007 -31 December 2011
The basic goal of the BSEC Working Group on SMEs is the exchange of information and knowledge necessary for the promotion of entrepreneurship among the BSEC Member States. To reach this goal the interaction of the Member States is directed at achieving the following tasks:
- to help create an enabling business environment,
- to foster entrepreneurship,
- to promote cooperation among SMEs in the BSEC region.
The Working Group on SMEs is composed of representatives of the government officials from the BSEC Member States in charge of development the national SME policies and supportive programs, the national SME support organizations and institutions, the Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the business associations representing interests of SMEs.
The Plan of Action of the Working Group for 2007-2009 is focused on the areas of high technology, innovation and SMEs and technology parks and incubators. The main objectives of the Plan are to encourage innovative ideas, products, services and procedures and to acquire and disseminate innovative methods and knowledge among SMEs in the BSEC region.
